Meet our Team

Marilyn B. Dale

Owner, Head Teacher

Marilyn B. Dale is the owner, founder, and head teacher of the Warwick Pottery Studio. Marilyn's passion for pottery started when she was kicked out of her first ceramics class. Through perseverance, she discovered her love for pottery when she centered her first piece of clay at a small studio in Hoboken. Marilyn chose to pursue pottery over painting due to the spiritual significance of creating functional pottery, despite the risk of it breaking.

In 1990, Marilyn carved a small studio in her home and began teaching others. What started with one student, quickly grew into the Warwick Pottery Studio that we know today, a vibrant and nurturing space for students of all levels for over 30 years.

Howard Steng

Studio Manager, Teacher

Meet Howard Steng, our studio manager, teacher, and Tai Chi master with over four years of experience working with clay. Howard believes that ceramics is an intuitive experience that involves trial and error.

For Howard, being part of the studio is about centering oneself, whether he's throwing a pot, mixing glaze, or loading the kiln- Howard believes the studio is a healthy and vibrant space where creativity and joy abound. Howard is committed to sharing his love of ceramics with others by creating a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for potters of all experience levels.

Rachel Durland

Teacher

Rachel Durland is a passionate teacher who believes in the importance of functional art and the joy it brings. Despite not having formal ceramics training until college, Rachel took as many electives as possible and now holds a minor in ceramics.

After a 40-year break, Rachel returned to ceramics and joined Warwick Pottery Studio. Here, she not only found the expertise to become a skilled potter but also an incredibly supportive community. For Rachel, working with clay is not just about making pretty pots, it's about centering oneself and being alongside like-minded individuals. Rachel loves teaching and finds great satisfaction in watching her students discover the joy of creating something with their own hands.

Kelsey Martin

Student, Digital Marketer

Kelsey Martin is a student of the Warwick Pottery Studio with a background in digital marketing and website development. Kelsey has always had a fascination with art and technology. After enrolling in the ceramics program at a local art school, Kelsey discovered her love for creating functional, complex, and aesthetically pleasing pottery pieces.

Along with her passion for pottery, Kelsey has a keen interest in digital marketing and website design. She pursued this interest by taking online courses in her spare time and quickly became proficient in website design, SEO, and digital marketing. Kelsey handles the front and backend operations of our website and brings our monthly newsletter to life.
