What’s New at Warwick Pottery
Bats & Dried Pieces
Students, please be advised that pieces that have been left on bats and have totally dried up, will be removed from the bat they occupy, carefully wrapped, and placed back on the shelf where they were found.
Please be mindful of your works in progress and where they are in their drying stage. We have many pieces that are missing names/stamps and have been left unclaimed!
Check it out! New Website Addition! – Our Student Work’s Section
We’ve added a new section to our website where we hope to share our student’s contributions to our studio!
If you have an article, poem, instructional, or other pottery related media you’d like to share on our website, please send it to Marilyn for review! If you would like your website or instagram credited, please ensure to provide your information with your submission. Check it out here!
Pierced Pottery: The Dance of Shadow and Light
Pushing your creative boundaries as a pottery student is both exciting and essential for growth! Exploring new forms and techniques challenges your skills, builds confidence, and helps you develop your artistic voice. For example, pierced pottery offers a fun and rewarding way to experiment with negative space, light, and shadow. By cutting away sections of clay, you can create intricate patterns and functional vessels that interact beautifully with their surroundings.
Pierced pots are especially versatile, making stunning vessels like tea light holders, garden ornaments, incense burners, wax warmers, and more! The play of light shining through the carved designs adds an ethereal quality to your work, transforming a simple form into something truly magical. The process encourages patience and precision, while also allowing for playful creativity. Whether you’re experimenting with organic cut-outs, geometric patterns, or storytelling designs, pierced pottery is a great way to push yourself and discover new possibilities!
