Special Announcement: Our Collaborative Art Show – July 18, 19, 20 2025
Greetings to all,
I am pleased to announce an exciting development arising from a conversation initiated by my esteemed colleague, Susan Fogel of Susan Hope Fogel Fine Art.
Susan approached me regarding the Upstate Arts Weekend, which is an annual event that seeks to showcase art across New York State.
In keeping with the name we established years ago, “The Warwick Guild,” Susan and I have submitted our application to be part of the Upstate Art Weekend. This event is significant; it involves a comprehensive marketing campaign, including maps and self-guided tours of various art locations throughout the region.
Regardless of the outcome of our application, Susan and I have decided to host our own show and sale. This event will differ substantially from our December craft show. We will have the opportunity to exhibit our work alongside several painters who have been personally invited by Susan to participate.
We look forward to this expansion of our studio’s initiatives and to witnessing the exceptional talent present at Warwick Pottery! The response from fellow pottery professionals and our local community during our last show was overwhelmingly positive, and we have much to be proud of collectively.
When: July 18, 19, 20 2025
Time: 10AM – 4PM
Where: Warwick Valley Community Center 11 Hamilton Ave., Warwick, NY 10990
If you are a currently registered student of Warwick Pottery Studio and would like to participate in this show, please sign up HERE.
With love and much anticipation,
Marilyn
What’s New at Warwick Pottery…
Spring Cleaning Notice!
Spring has sprung! This means we’ll be busy bees at Warwick Pottery, getting the studio ready for the summer rush. Please ensure you pick up your bisqued pieces from the kiln room. Bisqueware that has not been picked up within one month of its firing date may be discarded or used as test tiles (and we hate to see that happen!).
Please also make sure you are signing the bottoms of your pots! We have noticed an increase of bone dry pots with no names being left on the greenware shelves. If unidentifiable bone dry pieces are left on the greenware shelves for too long, they will be discarded.
Check it out! New Website Addition! – Our Student Work’s Section
Our NEW Student Works page is dedicated to the incredible students of our studio who choose to share their art in the most vulnerable of ways. Below is a selection of student-submitted works. We hope you find beauty and emotion in their words and art.
If you want to share pictures of your favorite work, please send Marilyn a picture! Please keep in mind that these images will be used on our website, so clear photos with good lighting will look best. Any smartphone camera should be able to capture your piece perfectly! The submitted photos must be of pieces that were made at Warwick Pottery. Check out our Student Works page and fall in love with some beautiful vessels!
Updated Class Schedule for April/May
Our April/May schedule has been posted to the website. Please check out the Class Schedule page for the most recent schedule!
What are the 3 clays used by potters at Warwick Pottery?
Mid-range clay is called stoneware and fires between Cones 4 and 6. It can be red, white, brown black, or gray and can be stained with other colorants.
At Warwick Pottery we use a brown called Hazelnut, a smooth Porcelain body which fires very white, and a white stoneware called Angel White made by Standard Clay.
What are the 4 S’s of pottery?
The four S’s hold things together. Missing any of these stages will cause your pieces to break off and not stick together. The four S’s stand for:
1. Score
2. Slip
3. Stick
4. Smooth
